Times Editorial on Benedict's First Encyclical

I found this editorial incredibly good and ironically on topic for the post I made a few minutes ago. Well worth the short read.

Wow, yeah, that was a good editorial. I actually met the writer of that piece, Mnsgr. Lorenzo Albacete a few months back with Pastor John. It was a good time! Funny guy, too. Oh, and you might be interested in his God at the Ritz: Attraction to Infinity. Here's a brief description of him, which doesn't sound too unlike you! (except he's a priest and you're married and with child ;)

Trained as a physicist and a Roman Catholic priest, Albacete has written a fine book of short reflections on religion, its place in our world, its at-times troubled relationship to its own truth claims, the meaning of suffering, and the experience of pluralism and liberalism. Albacete cites the thought of John Paul II and Cardinal Ratzinger, to be sure, but he also engages with Germaine Greer, Federico Garc”a Lorca, and Paul Ricoeur.

Peace,

eric
